For the Kids, for the Record: The (No) Lightning Round

UltimateDiscStore.com and Seward County CASA have teamed up once again to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest Ultimate Frisbee marathon game ever played! Last year's attempt was unsuccessful due to dangerous lightning storms around the 40th hour of play.

This year thirty participants will compete in an 80 hour game that will take place in Seward County, Nebraska from September 3, 2010 at 7 am through September 6, 2010 at 3 pm. Every game participant will be responsible for playing at least (7) six hour shifts. Each participant’s entrance fee will be $200. All proceeds will go to benefit abused and neglected children of Seward County. Each participant will be fed 3 meals a day plus snacks, and receive a customized full color disc and t-shirt provided by the Ultimate Disc Store, and be given the honor of setting a world record for a great cause. This event will be recognized by the World Flying Disc Federation, the disc sport record keeper for Guinness World Records.

According to the National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse, “Approximately six children are reported abused and neglected in America every minute (more than 3 million abuse reports a year)”. Please help Seward County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocated) spread the word about child abuse awareness by participating in our upcoming community awareness, fundraising, and public relations world record setting event. In addition to the $200 entrance fee, players are encouraged to find sponsors to donate money for each hour played. The player that raises the most money will receive a free disc for life from the Ultimate Disc Store.

Wow!  Playing Ultimate for seven 6-hour shifts!?  That's pretty intense.

I hope this gets some good media hype.  You should have someone announce this to all the major studio networks local and national.
