Hi fellow coaches,

I am in search of some new drills to use for my Jr team to improve their cutting. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Tonight, We Will Be Doing The Basic Cutting Drill Which Is Just A Line Of Players Standing About 20 Feet Away From The First Person In The Line.  The First Person From The Line Will Run Toward The Defender And Then Chop Their Feet A Few Times And Then Explode To The Right Or Left As Fast As They Can, Trying To Lose The Defender.  The Defender Goes To The Back Of The Line And Then Cutter Becomes The New Defender.

Really Though, Cutting Seems To Be One Of Those Things That Pretty Much Any Ultimate Drill Can Be Modified To Accommodate.  If You Can't Think Of A Way To Improve Cutting In A Drill, Try Adding A Defender To The Cutter And That Will (Hopefully) Force Them To Improve.

The best drill site I've found by far is here: http://www.menalto.com/ultimate/play_list.php

@ultimaterob: I agree with you that menalto.com provides great play and drill, though I usually need some time to digest most them before I understand them ^^

@quixrick: I'm not familiar with the term chopping feet hows that done? Also how do you determine that someone has lost their defender?

@Italguy10: The guy in-charge of our trainings has been do quick feet for about 5 secs then we fake left - right then go left or fake right - left then go right. By quick feet I mean like jogging in place but really quick. The fakes he makes us do are just one step-reverse direction stuffs, like if your faking going deep but take only the first step deep then push back to make the in-cut.

The standard "endzone" drill that a lot of teams use is standard for a reason. It simulates the timeless "dump-swing" attack. I would emphasize how the timing of the cut is based off of the activity of the handlers--cutting being as much about timing as it is about beating your man.
