Alright, well i'm new to the site and very addicted to Ultimate.  But anyways, I was just wondering what gets you guys pumped for tournaments?  I love music so that's what does if for me.  Are there certain songs you listen to or artist?  Right now, Lupe Fiasco or Atmosphere does it for me...

Just curious about your guys input.  Our first spring tournament is coming up and I'm ready to play!  Now if only the snow would melt first...

Yeah, music for sure.
Maybe a Ulti video...

For music I just use Metal Cheesy Or Dj Un1t (did soundtrack for '06 UPA championships disc 4).
But the team has to also have that feeling with me otherwise I can't get pumped.
Btw, my fav Frisbee song is "Pumperupper" by Dj Un1t... Good luck finding it Cheesy

That's the best by far. Does anyone know why Rob stopped putting music on the ultivillage dvd's? The UPA Nationals '07 was pretty shocking in terms of music - one semi-emo song for the 1:30 highlight reel, then no music at all! Any list of good pump up songs wouldn't be complete without Knights of Cydonia by Muse.

A good cheer or a lap around the oval gets me pumped to play some serious ultimate, but the best motivator to get me pumped is seeing my mark sucking for air, getting D, breaking down flow and getting high stall counts. Laying out. A lot of my getting pumped happens in game.

when was the last time you laid out tiger. It must have been in a dream...you know the one when you school all the shepherds, dowles and gak at the same time.

Nothing tops Rage Against the Machine for pure adreniline music....best gig ever! (and totally unrelated to ultimate), but sweet pump up music.

A quick google turned up this http://amiestreet.com/artist/26 - has the whole ultivillage package, including pumperupper.

No idea what format/quality the downloads are like, YMMV.

I play Offense normally so I often try to not pump myself up because I believe I play better O when I'm in a "cool, calm and collected" mood rather than jumping out of my skin. I have seen so many super hyped up people jump on for a point of O and are tearing around the field like a maniac then getting the disc turning and jacking it on an impluse only to watch the disc sail into the ground... The same applies on zone defense.

However... if for a game I know I'm going to be playing a lot of man D then N.E.R.D. - Rockstar gets me pretty pumped to make someonemy bitch along with just walking around by myself just running the sort of moves and plays that I will have to try and shut down through my mind - visualisation gets me more focussed and pumped up than anything.

Oh and normally I like to think I'm a pretty clean player but if someone wants to throw a little niggle in my direction that tends to amp me up.

Haha, yeah. Although I meant for free.
It's gotten more popular since I got it Wink I just personally emailed "Dj Un1t" himself and asked for it. He uploaded the ulti package and gave me the link and upon that wished me good luck for this year including worlds Cheesy

yeah, i'm a handler and i used to not know when i'm pumped.  when i get the disc if i don't get a quick cut within 1 second or 2 after my catch, i'll just take a deep breath, and by then the stall count is at around 1 or 2 because alot of times i'll have a cutter already there before the stall count even starts, but if thats not the case, like i said i take a deep breath, which calms me down.  i toss it and then go back into pumped up mode.  if i don't stay pumped up i get lazy.  alot of times what'll pump me up is goin deep for some catches before game and throwin some deep tosses.  its a confidence booster.  i also watch ulti videos on youtube throughout the week alot to keep me pumped and i listen to breaking benjamin to get pumped.

thats about it.

I usually don't get too pumped up before a game, one of the things I'm trying to work on. Basically though what as worked to get excited during a game is to lay-out for the first point that I'm on. That usually helps set the pace for the rest of the game. Many of the guys have taken this strategy as well, and our intensity helps to get everyone else excited as well.

Nothing gets me more pumped up than if I'm really really angry though (bad calls, excessively physical play, etc.)

I'm the same. I keep myself calm before the match, usually just some throws with a teammate while talking tactics.

What pumps me up is remembering that time when HOS were scrimmaging at training when Dan Rule cut breakside on his injured defending teammate, pancake caught a 2 metre pass, and rim spiked it in to the dirt whilst yelling obscenities. What a hero. That does the job for me

*For those not on facebook, Dan Rule is piping about this topic, and ultitalk in general. If you are on facebook, make sure you join the "Dan Rule is a massive chump" group.

I'd give a good two thumbs up to a little Journey on my iPod's pre-game playlist.  How about Be Good To Yourself as well.

But DaveR has it right.  Nothing gets me jumping and ready for action more than a little Rage Against The Machine.  Turn on Killing In The Name and yo feet can't STOP moving...

Cool

Metallica just released their latest album: Death MagneticWOW!  Talk about some SERIOUS pump up songs!!  Shocked

Just listen to the track Broken, Beat And Scarred.  I reckon I could run through walls while listening to that track on my iPod.

I listen to a few different types of songs before a game to get me psyched...tend to zone out while im havin a throw with my team mates pre game...Enter Shikari - Sorry, You're Not A Winner...really good or a little Kanye West - Touch The Sky....
and of course Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger
and i've recently been put onto Ratatat...theyre pretty sick..

but i can't get psyched if my team isnt psyched with me...just doesnt work for me..and because i play alot of D points layout Ds or gettin a hand block or foot block or even a high stall count...and then when that turn does happen i love seeing my marker breathin hard and makin sure that he has to work hard to get that disc...
