Hey KC Ultimate Players,
As some of you know,
Prairie Fire (
http://www.prairiefireultimate.com) is the local Kansas City Open Club team. They had a stellar result last year, placing 4th at Regionals and almost making it to Nationals. Their current captain, Andrew Wimer, asked that we notify the KC Ultimate community about their intentions to have open tryouts next year. It looks as though there is a lot happening between now and when their tryouts begin (roughly April).
They've also created a Mailing List for those interested in trying out for the team. This mailing list will be used as a communication tool between all those involved (captains and perspective players) from now until the team is formed.
Here is the website you should visit to join the
Prairie Fire Tryouts mailing list:

And finally, some words from Captain Wimer himself:
Greetings,
Prairie Fire had a successful 2008 season (finishing 4th at Regionals), but we are looking to build and improve upon that success for the upcoming 2009 season. We have multiple activities planned over the next few months, including off-season conditioning, tournaments, get-togethers and scrimmages that will prepare the team for next season. The goal is to use this off-season time to develop good workout habits and team strategy as we prepare for an even better 2009 season.
We are hoping to have a large group of talented individuals make it out to tryouts in the Spring so we can assemble a team that gives us the best shot at going to Nationals in the Fall. If you are planning to try out for the team (or are even interested in the planned events), please join the Prairie Fire Tryouts mailing list. Here is the link:

The leadership of Prairie Fire is very excited for the upcoming season, and we hope that you feel the same. If you are looking for some competitve Ultimate please put some serious thought into trying out for Prairie Fire in 2009.
Andrew Wimer
Cheers!
