We play in mini goals, no goalies. It is more dynamic than ultimate as you have to be able to catch, throw and hit a target. It is fast pace and intense. No out of bounds, you can play off of anything and everything. Send me a message if you have any questions.
Yeah, it would be good as a warmup and practice. But as a serious game?
I'd like some clarification: do you have to set a pivot foot or can your run with the disc? Bit confusing, i saw people moving with the disc... Your video clip didn't show much of the "fast pace" or "intense" parts of the game. Just looked like a bunch of guys that couldn't throw, mucking around in a park... With goals that are used to here to teach kids under 10 years old how to play soccer.
Froccer is like ultimate frisbee. But Better. Being athletic, ultimate frisbee turned out to be just a simple game where out-running your opponent created points. We decided there needed to be another element. We decided trying to get the disc in a soccer net would make the game more dynamic. You may be able to outrun your opponent, but if you cannot get the disc in the goal, your speed is worthless. Thus, froccer (frisbee + soccer) was created.
Interesting how points of view shape our opinions. I took that from your website.
I disagree that it has made a game more dynamic. Dynamic by definition is changing, or varying. Defending an area 18m x 37m is much more dynamic than defending an area roughly 12ft square. Once you turn the disc, you could just stand everyone in front of the goal and they can't score, as we see towards the end when that white shirted guy has it and he held onto it for about 8 seconds. Playing D in ultimate you actually have to chase your player and prevent them from doing damage by changing your strategy as they change theirs.
I'm sorry, but it seems very much a game tailored towards handlers. Lots of throwing and a minimum of running
