First off howdy this is my first post and it is just something i have been wondering.  How often do you use your scoober in an actual game?  When i was playing in college i don't remember people using them very often but i am playing in a lower level co-ed league and am finding that it has been quite effective for me (when my teammates catch it, it sometimes catches them off guard).   I am thinking that it might be product of the competition and it wouldn't be so effective against better defenses.  anyways just wondering, talk amongst yourselves.

I use it very little maybe just once per day.  But I love the scoober it's perfect for breaking the mark and floats in soft to the receiver.   You may have heard of Pottinger on Furious George.  I hear he uses a scoober almost exclusively.

We had an awesome player come to town who threw almost exclusively scoobers. Very hard to defend, and if you made that your default mark defense, it was really hard to readjust when he went for a 'normal' bh or fh.

I reckon it could be the quickest release throw (analgous to the fh push but safer in my book), doesn't need any pivot (goes over the mark's shoulder) and there's little windup or wrist-cock involved. Less wafty than a high release bh as well.

The point of the receiver needing to be ready (or at least not 'unready') is a good one though.

Never threw one in college except in some intramurals or pickup and have yet to throw one in a club game of any kind, did throw it in summer league the other day though. I would say in 4 club tournaments last yr probably about 20 games I maybe saw 10-20 total. We have a couple guys who throw them in practice to break but don't seem to throw in in tourneys. I think your just so conditioned to throw bh that its hard to make yourself throw the scoober.

my scoober sucks, so I never use it.

I would argue that a nice high-release backhand is not as wafty as a scoober.

it's a better throw than a hammer if you want to do it since it has less wind up to it. i see alot of them in pick up and maybe hat tourneys but in a real game only once or twice over the course of a year. people normally get pissed if the player on our team tries a scoober during the game and the disc get drops.

I use it in college and pickup, I think it's great for dropping quick little breakmark throws. It's also very, very useful for throwing through a cup. It does have a tendency to catch people off-guard, but that's not my problem.
