....I'm really not sure what was up with the almost word for word repost of my question, but in case anybody else wanted to do something like it, I did find some information about painting the shoes. You have to use acetone to rub the protectant off the leather first, then use something like Angelus leather paints on them. I'll probably do this over the winter, and show you folks how it turns out.
