very cool videos.  You should post full games of your league also, it's so hard to find good full length games online.

Thanks Basic,
i'm also looking for good full length games ... always.
But i know it's hard to put a good full length game.
I hope i will manage to do that someday, definitely outdoor one.

Here is some announcement of NPUL#5 - the last event of Indoor season 2009-2010:

I think your indoor videos are some of the better indoor videos I have seen. Maybe its just because I don't like watching indoor though.

Whenever I watch I always find myself wondering how the level of play compares to what I'm used to here in the US on the club scene. It looks like pretty good play but I don't know how much is edited out or anything. Has your team ever played any high level club teams from the US, Canada, or Japan and if so how did that go?

What software do you use for editing..?

Made by the Swedish Government funded "Swedish Television" :D And actually the first time a full Ultimate-game has been shown on Swedish TV

rrudnic:
First of all thanks for appreciation. I'm into making clips, and they are edited. I can not imagine to put a raw video on.
Everyone who kick some sweet Ulti videos know that You got to work on them:
http://vimeo.com/user376524
http://vimeo.com/loganbraun
http://vimeo.com/lukejohnson
Well, You can put raw Elite Club games and they are gonna be great, but Beau or Zip is not running every team all over the world.

Your question. No - my team had not played any US, Canada or Japan team. I played against some Us players (college level) on Hat Tournaments and they were usually sick cats, but not so out of range.
Polish Ultimate is quite young. We have about 14-16 teams, and we play mixed only (lack of players). The oldest team has 10 years, but the average experience of all players in Poland is about 2-3 years. First city league started in December 2008, and intercity league in October 2009. First Nationals in 2009. So it's not hard to guess there it's a long way for us.
But the best part in Poland now is the passion. Everyone is so excited, tournaments have lots of goodies, parties, everyone knows each other, and the Spirit of the Game is very high (in the way of cheering, having fun, and respecting your rival).

I'm also wondering how would it be playing against some US, Canada, Japan, Australia teams. Hope to get that in Paganello in two weeks. We play in open div.

Foggy:
I use Sony Vegas Studio 9.0. I worked with Adobe Premiere before, but Vegas helps me to put shots on the tracks smore easily.
I think it's mostly the matter of habit and how much You work with the software.

Based on that length of time there has been organized/competitive Ultimate there and your comments I'm guessing the level of play is probably as a whole somewhere around that of mid to upper-mid level college or about mid level club in the US then. Probably with a few of the top tier players being another step up. Definitely post up if you play some teams from some of the top tier ultimate countries at Paganello and tell us how you do.

I'm actually of Polish heritage maybe I need to take a trip to the land of my ancestors for some Ultimate.

Cool stuff indeed. Amazing that there was a full-length ultimate match on the television... You don't see that in other countries in Europe yet (as far as I know).

They worked quite hard for it.. It was during a "Nationals weekend", lots of sports centered around the same week.

I'm actually of Polish heritage maybe I need to take a trip to the land of my ancestors for some Ultimate.

So don't hesitate to come!
I would personally organize a place to stay, and some events, where You could play a lot.
And if You play upper level and enjoy teaching this would be great. I'm thinking about making an Ulti Camp in September 2010.

We are at that point when we need somebody, who would take Competitive Ultimate to another level.

Geoff - the godfather of Polish Ultimate who started Ultimate up here more than 10years ago, now has no time (family, work and stuff) and he is more about fun Ultimate. But without him, we would still play soccer.

Piotrek Mankowski - polish guy from Montreal (plays for Mephisto now) came for 6 months in 2008, and created a HUGE step for us. Team he played in - Grandmaster Flash won Polish Cup in 2009 and was the best Polish Team at Nationals 2009. He really showed us the real hucks and zone D.

And now...nobody. We do what we can by ourselfs, but some experienced player or coach would create much bigger progress.
We do not have money for Ben Wiggins or other coaches. We can offer great Spirit, gratitude, and respect for life.
Maybe there is someone who would come to Europe before or stay after WUCC, and would like to get involved in Polish Ultimate?
We want to learn!

If I ever come I will be sure to let you know, it won't be any time soon though, life is kind of in the way right now.

I have never played on any team higher than middle of the road at Regionals though, so thats probably about the level of your good teams there anyway.

I'm assuming the tragedy mentioned was the plane crash correct?

I noticed you guys running some what I assume were 40's, what sort of times were turned in on that? It was discussed a bunch in another thread so I was wondering how you guys clocked in.

rrudnic:

Yes, the plane crash..
Someone could say we shouldn't run the Tryouts in this situation.
But first of all it was so tragic people couldn't actually belive it..it was so abstract.
Plus people came from the whole country. We wanted to finish the Tryouts cause we didn't had other date we could run them.

40's question:
If i remember it right it was around 5.40 to 6.10 ..most of them.
I had 5.56 or so. and i was in the first four or five.

Yeah that is pretty crazy, especially when you compare the similarities to the event all those years ago they were going to commemorate.

5.40-6.10, really, did you maybe mean 4.4-5.10? That sounds incredibly slow to me. I haven't run a timed 40 in probably 8-10 years now but last time I did I was breaking 5 and I'm not that fast.

I could be mistaking, but another thing..we run meters not yards.. maybe that's the difference.

You wrote that people were chating about this in another topic. Can you drop a link please.

Title: Re: Astro TV
Post by: rrudnic on June 02, 2010, 08:58:26 AM
Yeah that would make a little difference, 40m is 11 feet further than 40yds, or almost 44 yds.

Not even sure what thread it was now, one about training and benhcmarks I think. People were just wondering what an elite mens player would run various distances in and discussing it.
