Title: Is this illegal?
Post by: sworls on October 03, 2011, 07:25:15 PM
Is it legal to put your knee or hand on the ground when making a throw in ultimate if your pivot foot remains on the ground?  Or must there only be 2 points of contact with the ground when you are throwing?

I've seen people throw from the ground while on their but and both feet on the ground as well, so I would think a hand or knee would be fine as well.

Good question, though.

Anyone else know the true answer?

Hey, you re right

18.2.5. A thrower who is lying down or kneeling does not need to establish a pivot.
18.2.5.1.    Once stopped, their centre of mass determines their pivot point, and they should not move away from that point while lying down or kneeling.
18.2.5.2.    If they stand up, they must establish their pivot at that point.
