1  General / Ulti Media / UPAs Tom Crawford interview at the Alt Games on: April 27, 2010, 06:48:09 PM
What do you guys think about what he said of Ultimate? Despite the fact he said "frisbees"
I could definitely tell he was trying to focus on legitimizing Ultimate as a sport. Thoughts?

yea ive placed 2 orders of misprints before, fun stuff.
i got a Chupacabra disc before, that was cool, i got a couple of "evolution of Ultimate player" disc before, from monkey to layout

and other random designs, one i couldnt figure out what it said, and some other designs.
i love getting misprints, its like collecting Pokemon, gotta catch em all!
4  General / Ulti Strategy / Re: 5 on 5 on: April 12, 2010, 02:35:20 PM
i would try a 2 handle -3 stack with one middle.
make the middle your best cutter, use him as the go-to-guy.
just adapt everything to this offense and the stack should work pretty good.
just my opinions, if they don't work, than just switch to something else.
have a great day!
5  General / Ulti Media / Youth Ultimate highlighted on the Disney Channel! on: March 22, 2010, 01:52:30 PM
This is a great video about Youth Ultimate in the Seattle area.
This is going to air(or has already) on the Disney Channel, "Get Your Head in the Game" show.

I would be curious as to what they charged you to create that for you.

I could design one for teams that would look much better and be more customized than the one they provide.
Just a thought. The design on those looks pretty shabby.

But cool idea none the less. Parents would love it im sure.
7  General / Ulti Strategy / Re: Good offense to run? on: March 16, 2010, 12:50:38 PM
a lot is changing back thought to a form of vert stack.
at UPA Nationals a lot of the teams ran different offenses other than Ho.
A box stack or some different things were ran alot. Most of the variations are among the team and its putting a personal customized level to the different offenses.
Each team has its variations and will run according to whos on the field and such.

But I would still say the majority of college level teams run a Ho stack.

i think you're not getting a response from this question because it is so broad and people want to help but they dont want to type out all of their ideas (including me).
there are many things to do but are all different depending on school, location, weather, etc.

just make it fun, dont yell at rookies, spend time together and make sure they know they can be part of a team not just a group of people.
people will want to do things with their friends no matter what. if you can build relationships with them, they will want to stick around.

just make playing fun for a few weeks, dont get too serious too soon. but let them know that it gets better, more competitive, and more intense.

the bottom line is: some people will never want to play competitive ultimate and some will. its really hard to change someones view on that if they are set. so just do your best, make it fun, and build relationships, those are my ideas.
9  General / Ulti Talk / Re: I found the best cleats for Ultimate! on: March 15, 2010, 11:24:08 AM
yes...i was joking  Cheesy

just wanted to see what reactions I could get.
I cant believe they would even make something like this.

The cleats are removeable so maybe after getting a layout point you can run to the courts and dunk over a 7' guy in rec league.

my opininon on baseball cleats are that I think they would not allow you a great cleat to cut and shift your weight as fast as necessary in Ultimate.
I know some guys who play in baseball cleats but mainly because they already own a pair.
IMO, football or soccer cleats, maybe lacrosse, cleats are the way to go in Ultimate. Now it depends on your style of play and if you have weak ankles or not.
Soccer cleats: will allow quicker cuts, while sacrificing some support
Football cleats: offer better support, slightly sacrificing speed but there are some great football cleats that are very fast (any FB cleat designed for WR/RB)
Lacrosse: from what I have seen, most of these are designed like football cleats so I am assuming they would be very similar

thats my opinion, so make sure and get some more first

I do not recommend using a baseball cleat.
14  General / Ulti Talk / Re: What would you do? on: February 26, 2010, 05:22:07 PM
agreed, its Ultimate...play it
15  General / Ulti Strategy / Re: Ultimate newbie questions on: February 16, 2010, 09:19:43 AM
well fortunately, Ultimate is not like American football. you can not just pick up the disc after a pull and assume possession.
you would not want to pull a very short distance, because the other team would then be advancing the disc towards you and would only have a few meters to go for the score.

thats why there is no minimum distance, it would not be smart to do that. the best thing to do is pull towards their endzone, resulting in a longer pull.

hope this helps.
