1  General / Ulti Development / Re: Teaching Beginners to Read The Disk on: April 16, 2011, 04:22:26 PM
Here are some basic tips on reading the disc: http://www.ultimaterob.com/2009/10/21/reading-the-disc/

I will hopefully have a video up on this in the next few weeks.

2  General / Ulti Development / Videos to Help Improve Your Pulls on: April 16, 2011, 04:18:32 PM
I have a series of videos online that discuss the different elements of pulling. I've found even myself watching the videos once in a while help me improve my pulls so I'd love if you shared this link. I find far too many teams struggle with having someone who can pull and it really does hurt the team since a weak pull never gives your D a chance to set up:

I practice throwing on my own a lot and one of the drills I'll do is to get a bunch of discs and throw them into a soccer net:

I know this thread is old, but sometimes it's good to have a reminder of the basics of the game so we constantly be improving our game:

Some good tips Ksharp!

I'd say that it's all about having good spin and having the right edge on the disc...here are a few videos that discuss that:

Spin & Power on a throw: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/1mkHDFwzwaE" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/1mkHDFwzwaE</a>
Planes of the Forehand: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/PbR4qGt8c7Y" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/PbR4qGt8c7Y</a>

Good luck!

I have a series of videos online that teach you how to throw. Here's a good one discussing spin and power of a forehand:

Guys, sometimes I find people overcomplicate things when the key to developing a better throw is going back to basics. Just like Tiger Woods has completely changed his swing a few times in his career, sometimes we need to break our throw down in order to make it stronger.

I did a video a few months ago discussing spin and power of a forehand and how they are independent but when you combine them together, you'll have the best throw.

Good luck!

Great question and comments!

I did a video on marking a few months ago so it might help some newer players to see it being demonstrated:

Great thread Smiley

Just wanted to let people know that I'm developing a website which is dedicated at teaching people more about ultimate; specifically how to get better and how to help others get better.

I'm developing flash drills, instructional videos, writing articles and linking to other ultimate resources (like the Huddle). I'm also on Twitter and Facebook and I'm available to answer any questions related to ultimate.

My site is called Ultimate Rob and you can find all of my social networks from that site (http://www.ultimaterob.com).

I've started an ultimate frisbee website and am starting to post videos on teaching throwing and will be posting a forehand instructional video soon.

All of my videos are on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/rjmcleod04 or on my website at http://www.ultimaterob.com
