2  Regional / Australasia / Trial of Line Assistants at AMUC 2009 on: September 16, 2009, 11:22:18 PM
Hi all,

As you may have heard, AFDA will be trialling the use of Line Assistants at the showcase pool game between Spiderpig and MUCUS at the AFDA Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships 2009 in Hobart.

Here is a brief description about Line Assistants:

The aim of Line Assistants is to strengthen spirit of the game and the self-refereeing model and to empower the players by providing them with better information with which to make decisions.

ALL calls will still be made BY THE PLAYERS. Line Assistants will not make calls and will not remove any responsibilities from the players. They may simply provide advice, if asked.
Line Assistants also assist the smooth running of the game by signalling what has just happened on the field.

A more detailed description of the Line Assistants trial is available here: http://www.afda.com/trashtalk/showarticle.php?articleid=676

Please let us know what you think:

We are keen to gather feedback from players and spectators about this initiative, both before and after the showcase game. This area of the rules is a work-in-progress and we want to improve them as much as possible prior to the next rules release.

We plan to circulate a questionnaire to the crowd or maybe provide an online poll after the event. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Rueben or Jonathan.

Thanks

Results from the last training camp:

Salts - Irukandji

13(7) - 7(2)
13(7) - 12(4)
13(3) - 11(7) - great comeback from the Crocs

Both teams were almost the same as last camp, but Crocs had Ash and both Dowles, while Irukandji added Gak.

did the weather affect the training camp on the weekend? fields open? did the games against the Irukandji go ahead? Results? who played?

Rain wasn't too bad.
Very dodgy fields day 1, but day 2 was OK.

Salt Crocs won all 3 games against the Irukandji: (score in brackets is half time score)
13(7) - 11(3)
13(7) - 8(5) (after a 0-3 start)
13(7) - 5(3)

Crocs were without either Dowle, and Ash.

26 days to go and the Crocs are looking good.

"Cranky FaFFers" have put their name in the ring for Mixed now!

You would have to assume it was a combo of these two teams:

When is the Gak going to get around to registering his team?

Um, never (that I'm aware of) Smiley

There was only ever going to be one Vic Mixed Team, which was going to feature Gak, but now there's no Gak.

I'll probably be the only HoS player on Tribe.

Last year at Mixed Nats, Tribe had only 3 HoS players.

I'm talking about WFDF rules here and have assumed that the O is stationary.
