Hey, what do you think in this case:

Huck has gone up into the endzone , O and D players are in a position where D has his back to O. Disc is coming in high towards D and so D tracks backwards, O doesnt do a very good job of reading the disc which in turn causes D to knock his back into Os front. Disc ends up going over both players heads. O calls a foul on D and so gets Disc at front of endzone. For the sake of the rules, this is as though he didnt make a play for the disc (misread) but rather drew the foul (got in the way of the D player reading the disc by standing behind him). Is there a difference between a spirited play here, i.e. O misread and so the disc went over his head = turnover or by the rules i.e. D contacted O resulting in foul call = no turnover

I would think it's a foul on defense, they initiated the contact on a stationary player (O).  I wouldn't consider that "drawing a foul".

Fair enough, it just seems strange then that an O player who has misread the disc can still call a foul and regain possession...

In a situation like that i go in with the mentality of "I have to get to that disc", therefore if there is a chance of reaching the disc with a bid then I'd go for it. If there is contact and I know I have caused a foul then i would most definitely call it (I have done plenty of times in the past). As what has already been said, if the player is really an ultimate player he will understand this and the SOTG wont be affected.

If i see that there is a person clearly in the way of where I would lay out then you have to accept that; you cant win everytime, just get ready to put up a strong force and try and make that block!

A defender should be as aggressive as needs be on a bid, as long as another player doesnt have to directly feel that aggression.
