Rumor has it that a national tv network is looking to do a decent piece on the ECC tourney...

Bout time the Ultimate community infiltrate some major networks Grin

1. with all the players you would think some might work at a major TV network, not that they might be that high up. Its great for the sport, and maybe you'll get some extra players (good players) to show off.

2. Thank god it wasnt planned for the LCC, as it has been cancelled...

3. Why wouldnt you go to AUG, there would be alot more teams, better teams, more competition. ECC must really wow them so that they do more stories..

It's much much much easier to get media coverage outside capital cities where not much else is happening, or sport is the same happenings every week. Not many players noticed, but Mixed Nats last year received a fair bit of radio, print and tv coverage in Ballarat in the week before, during and just after the tournament.

You can't sit around and wait for the media coverage to come to you. More often than not you have to write reports or whatever yourself, which the media love because hey...less work for them. Also, hitting up newbie reporters to give your team/tournament coverage is dead easy because they're so keen to report on something 'different'.

How could people not notice - you had that freaking massive van/DJ setup thing going on.

This is it exactly. No one gives to shits about UD, they only give two shits about what UD can do for them. UD just needs to find more ways to either make easier for them to cover our sport and/or make it so they get a greater return from their investment in covering us.

free advertising doesnt hurt anyone.
Sure it does! It hurts the consumer that doesn't want to be advertised to about some crap product. Advertising a bad product also results in loss of credibility and reputation for the publisher of the advertisement.

Like for example you being involved in any UD advertising campaign to the public. Your presence has the potential to irreparably damage the image of UD for the foreseeable future, not to mention single handily destroy the reputation of this "nightlife" mob.
