So I am holding a 'Basics' Training session for my team on Friday, which shall cover Simple Catching and Throwing. However, I have come under one problem...I have never had to explain to anyone, beginners or not, how to read the disk. I don't think I know how I could possibly explain it as it is just something that I do, as opposed to something I was taught.

Any advice on how to explain this to beginners struggling with the idea of anything above simple catching and throwing, would be greatly appreciated.

May the Disk be with you my child.

Biggest thing about learning to read the disc is doing it but there are some things to explain. In simplest terms if you can see any of the top of the disc its bending/curving toward you and if you see the bottom of the disc its bending/curving away from you. If nothing else that simple knowledge should help people start to move in the right direction. I would say mayeb just throw up some lofty throws and let them watch the disc move as well. But beyond that its doing it.

Here are some basic tips on reading the disc: http://www.ultimaterob.com/2009/10/21/reading-the-disc/

I will hopefully have a video up on this in the next few weeks.
