The idea had been floated before in the Mixed Nats thread but after some discussion I thought it was important enough to have its own topic:

I'd really like to see a Youth team compete at Mixed Nationals - from what I saw at Youth Nationals this weekend, there's hardly any issue of whether the talent is there or not, it's more an issue of whether or not we can be bothered!

So who's interested in giving the old folks a run for their money? It'd be excellent experience for those of us wanting in for Junior Worlds '08!

Tiger, recruit some more girls (or poach them from somewhere) and just enter the qualifiers. If you miss out there will be wildcards given. So put up a good fight and you may be surprised.

Nah but seriously, what Timill said. There's qualifiers for the first time this year, and since the NSW qualifiers (and Mixed Nats) will be in your home town it's worth getting a side together and having a crack. Just needs one person to take the initiative and get things organised.

I know the Kangamoose girls are wanting to play, hopefully there's some Vic junior action too. I'm sure you'd like a rematch Wink

Sorry I was assuming that everyone was a frisbee nerd like me and read the Mixed Nats policy.

What I meant was, who likes the idea of a Youth team competing against all you oldies in the NSW qualifier? There's six whole spots for the three-odd NSW-based teams to compete for, and while I don't think we'd have MUCH of a chance (given that there are entire teams fielded by the Dowles and the Shepherds) I still think it'd be worth it for the chance to play at such a high level and that experience in itself could be quite fun.

And who knows, maybe some old folks'll break their hips and we'll get in on a Wildcard!

T.

ps it'd be my dream rematch if Kangamoose were fielding a team and we played them again, that was a spectacular game...

Yeah that's the problem with you seniors, you see something good and you just take it!

(I think the Dowle family has shanghaied Tom, Graham, Jackson, Ellie and Bec V, the dastards!)

Oh well, maybe we'll get in on a wildcard and then we'll end up rematching Kanga, even if it is only in spirit.

Feedback's been pretty good so far, though. Should be a great team, even if all we have on the competition is that we don't have jobs or anything.
