I have a local ultimate frisbee pickup game group... when it was smaller, I just divided the teams before we played myself.  It got bigger (20+ players) so we started doing team captains... unfortunately, that took a while, didn't tend to be too fair, and since our range of skills/experience was extreme, we had problems with ... team captains voicing displeasure at "having" to have certain other players.

Anyways, being a software tester by day and having programming as a hobby for a while, I eventually - with some help in the algorithm department from some folks interested in that side - wrote up an android based team picking app.  As far as I know, it works on devices from 1.6 through 3.2, both tablets and phones.  No internet connection is used - the only permission required is sdcard writing for backing up your database.

Anyways... it's free, so I'm not trying to gain money here Wink but if you're interested/it would help out your team picking at pickup games:

I also made a simple little 11th edition rulebook app.  It's just a copy of the rules with search and section-jumping capability.  Also free, of course.

It won't be terribly useful for pickup games where you have 25 newcomers every game... but for us, with maybe 1 or 2 newcomers on a given day, it works out well.  It only takes about 10 seconds to add a player (but you do have to ask them how good they are Smiley ).

Enjoy!  Feel free to provide any feedback, feature requests, etc., if you want!
