Hey hey

So, whats the timeline now for selections?

Any confirmation of the possibly of two teams?

Any luck getting more kids from other areas to show some interest? I think we've pretty much asked everyone in the ACT three times if they are keen and we have heaps of ppl interested from our community, what about other areas?

An email was sent out today about all this:

Quote
Hello all,

The inaugural WFDF Asia-Oceanic Ultimate Championships are happening this year!

Where: Kaohsiung City, Taiwan
When: December 7-9, 2007
What: Represent Australia in a Mixed division competition - featuring teams from the Asia-Oceanic region (Japan, China, Philippines etc.)

Approx. Costs: $2,000 (flights etc), $200 (accom), $100 (Tournament Fees)
Commitment Required: $200 deposit - no other selection/training events are currently planned

This is a great opportunity for players to get an experience of high level Mixed Ultimate at a World level and to cement Australia's place as one of the top Ultimate countries in our region.

The selectors for this event are: Rachel Grindlay, Luisa Fearnside and Rueben Berg
There will be no formal selection event, selection will be based on existing knowledge of players.

In order for you to be considered for selection, the selectors need a deposit of $200.
The deadline for that payment is Wednesday 17th October, with the Team to be announced in the following week.

The bank account details are:
Acct name: Australian Ultimate Teams
BSB: 034-000
Acct #: 392636

Make sure you include your name and AFDA# in the transaction
When you pay, please send an email to: national-te[email protected] letting Adam know that you have paid.
If you voluntarily withdraw from selection, then it is at the selectors discretion whether you receive your refund.  Injury for example is a legitimate reason, as are big unexpected life changes.  "Changed your mind" is not.

If you haven't already, please register on the AFDA rego page: http://afda.com/rego/showteam.php?teamid=3830
If you have registered and do not intend nominating for selection, please email one of the selectors ASAP and remove your name from the rego page.

To keep informed with what is happening with this event, sign up to the yahoogroup by sending a blank email here: [email protected]

If you have any questions about this event, please do not hesitate to contact one of the selectors.

Thanks
Rachel Grindlay

Excellent.

Ruebs, when are we going to sort out team crap, like leadership and team roles. We seem to be cutter heavy on the boys side and handler heavy on the girls side but I could be reading ppls positions wrong. Let us know when things get decided

Of the men, 3 handlers and 6 cutters seems like a good balance to me.

We shouldn't need any shots. Taiwan isn't tropical and its fairly clean, if heavily polluted Sad

I'm going to the Melb hat. Maybe thats the closest we are going to get to having a meet and greet session.

Don't know what the go is for extra jerseys, would be pretty sweet however, let us know how that goes.

Badly translated (by Google) update from CTFDA Website:

"2007 Asia Oceania Frisbee Championships

The first session organized by the Asia Oceania Frisbee for the
Kaohsiung City Championship held in China in Asia, Oceania region
for the first time with the participation of the national
competition, as closure of the list: There are Chinese Taipei,
Japan, Australia, Singapore, the Philippines and Pakistan enroll in
the , most of the rest of the smaller local players not
participating spite of this, this competition, 2005 World Games
runner-up Australia and the 3rd runner-up Japan entries, strength no
trivial matter, and the emerging power in Asia Singapore and the
Philippines also enroll in, so can the domestic disc players and
fans have the opportunity to view world-class Frisbee tournament"

"Registered Nations of 2007 AOUC: Chinese Taipei, Australia, Japan,
Singapore, Philippine, Pakistan (HongKong and India are on the
list)"

Only 3 weeks to go!!!

Looks like we will have a good shot at making the Final.

Go Aussies!
