Hey everyone

Just wondering if there are any rumours/hard facts about bids for hosting World Clubs in 2010.

Just wondering how I'm going to fit it into my travels

According to the WFDF site, Sao Paulo, Brazil is interested in hosting.

http://www.wfdf.org/index.php?page=events/bidding.html

Bids closed 1 Nov 07, so you would have thought they would know by now.

From memory, I thought I saw somewhere that bidding had been extended to Feb sometime (think Feb 1)? Can't recall for sure.

Probably could've just checked the WFDF page *before* posting the first time...
Bids have been extended to March 31, 2008.

Man I hope it isn't in Sao Paulo. Brazil is awesome, but Sau Paulo at night when you are by yourself... is one scary town. Not to mention fairly hard to get to from anywhere in the world (not that Perth would have been tons easier).

Does anyone know if there is any definite interest from Australia club teams about going?

Rueben - I don't think that page has been updated since early 2006. Extending the bid due date means they probably haven't had any bids yet.

Chris - None that I've heard, but I don't imagine anyone starting to think about it until late this year or early next year.

From WFDF:

Quote
WFDF is pleased to have received three bids to host WUCC 2010. Bid packages were received from Brasilia, Brazil; Nottingham, UK; and Prague, Czech Republic. WFDF will present the winning bid during the World Ultimate & Guts Championships running August 2-9th in Vancouver, BC, Canada. WFDF is also currently seeking hosts for the 2009 PanAm Ultimate Championships, the 2009 Asia Oceanic Ultimate Championship, and the 2010 World Junior Ultimate Championship. Please review this bidding information if you are interested in hosting a WFDF event in your city.

Well, I'm pretty sure Firestorm and HoS have Clubs in 2010 on their agenda. Aside from that I guess a lot of action is going to come from the gossip and aftermath of worlds.

Don't forget Friskee, either. They should be able to give a pretty solid World Clubs showing.

I was just on the WFDF iste and was excited to see the announcement of the potential World Clubs locations. I really hope that it heads to either the UK or the Czech Republic.

I was also surprised to see that WFDF plan to hold the Asia Oceanic Ultimate Championship every two years rather than four. This is also very exciting. Does anyone know if there is any intention of making the AOUC more than just a mixed competition?

AOUC seems to depend entirely on finding a host, and preferably one that's not in Australia or Japan (as these are the two nations most willing to travel, and having either of them at home would be a bit unstoppable).
If a good and motivated host is on the case early, then teams and divisions can be generated (build it, and they will come).

Well, it seems that the opening demo game is between Canada and Great Britain. If the regular tradition holds, then this would imply that Nottingham has won the bid to host the World Clubs event in 2010.

No official announcement yet, but the rumours coming out of Vancouver suggest the smart money is on Prague.
