No Ultimate tournament is complete without a good party.

In Australia, there's usually some theme and dressing up involved.

Northern Regionals last year had the Rubik's Cube game, and this year we're going with the Village People.  Yes, its disco to contrast with Eastern Regional's Rock Star (perhaps Southerns will have an R&B look?).

Tell us about other good themes for Ultimate parties.

Anything that's not 60s/70s/80s/20s/any other timeframe.

Back to school
Hollywood/TV stars
Famous teams (eg: A-Team, Spice Girls, TMNT)
Revenge of the nerds
For uni tournaments, wear the colour that corresponds with what year you are (1st - white, 2nd - green, 3rd - red, etc)

That's all I've got at the moment.

Pimps and Ho's.

Hasn't happened yet but I think it'd be a good 'un. Party of the Year 2007 was the Stampede, and it was a fantastic party although the theme was 'Op Shop Formal' which isn't that great, which shows that sometimes themes don't mean a guaranteed good time. AUG's 07's 'White' party had a shit theme and was a great time also, from what I have heard.

Some ideas, stolen from the intertron, include:

Come As Yourself
Kleptomaniac Party (where everyone has to bring something they have stolen)
God (everyone dresses as a god of their choice. Atheists don't have to show up)
Upside Down (hats on feet, pants on chest)

Op Shop Formal was meant to be a play on B&S Balls Smiley

Anything where people have to put in a little effort to dress up is a great theme!

Stranger Than Fiction (dress as a fictional character) is one of my fav's as it is soooooooooooo HUGE!
Although, party themes that are pretty clear cut such as Dr's & Nurses, Back to School, Casino, Rubiks Cube or era themes, are tops too!

Damn you JDR for contrasting our ideas :-P

Was else anyone a fan of the "Green" theme at Nationals 2007? I think it was a great theme, don't remember too much of the party though.

I think halloween is a good theme - because you can make a costume with very little effort (just the way I like it). A couple of rolls of toilet paper = instant mummy. One roll of aluminum foil = instant tin man.

Too easy.

White party is kinda cool, but it's kind of out of place without a laser show and pumping uplifting trance music.

Personally, themes where you have to make an effort (eg. actually go out and spend time/money) can sometimes be annoying, but that's just me. I do agree though that putting in some effort can sometimes be rewarding...

Am especially not a big fan of "theme-that-requires-effort" parties when I have to travel to a tournament... I'm concerned with getting there, packing light, sorting out other stuff... don't want the extra hassle of trying to sort out some 12-piece affair...

I agree - though themes that lend themselves to putting a "low" amount effort for the majority without looking out of place, but still allow the minority who really get into the fancy dress thing to go with something extravagant are ideal.

So Jmac wants a 1 piece theme then.
