Catch the train to Melbourne??? Interesting idea... I'm sure if UQ can find enough girls to actually play AUGs this will be an option we all consider.

From Queensland???!!!

That would take two or three days.....

USYD is charging $590

Includes $100 bond, uniform, entry fee, social, transport pass, accom, security

SUUFA is hoping to subsidise a total of $200ish somehow.

Uts is charging us $400 members/$450 non-members and that covers registration, travel pass, social uniform and accommodation...
like most uni's we still have to pay our own way down...we are currently trying to get some fundraising ideas together to help those students who dont have that type of money readily available

What security is required? Is the Sydney Uni AUG team at threat from terrorists...or is the security required to protect the virtue of the ladies in Melbourne from El Presidente of Suufa?

Thanks to Greta, regarding train from Brisbane...

"Well it's all at http://www.countrylink.info/. If they have the right kind of concession card it's half the price of an adult ticket so you're looking at around $130 return.
The concession cards we got were International Student Identity Cards which you can get for $18 from STA Travel with a passport photo and student ID. The other kinds of concessions they accept are on the counrty link website.
The trip takes forever so bring stuff to do. It's about 27 hours one way, and there may be a 7 hour break in Sydney depending on when they travel. I started a book and then finished it on the one trip. It gets boring... But I guess it depends who you travel with... Tongue
Bring your own food, they do serve meals that aren't too bad but cost a bit. We didn't get any coz we were too poor (hence the whole train travel thing). Also book together so you all get seat together, they can be strict about not swapping seat with people. Same with the concession card, it's easy to get and if you get a concession ticket and cannot show them the correct card they will fine you.
Um... I think that's all"

Worth considering for the Sydney folk as well.

-edit- I did double check it was indeed $130 return because I didn't believe it either.

UWA is charging $600, but i'm quite sure some of that is bond. Gets us accomodation, tracksuit, entry fee, social passes, transport. Then on top of that we have to pay the $$ to get us all the way across the country.

Because Murdoch only sends a small team away (i think this year about 120 athletes) the unis paying for our accom and team and player fees so we just pay for our Uniforms and airfares...which is always good  Cheesy

Yer we took the train down to Melbourne for the Hat ages ago. It is really boring but we played cards, gorged ourselves on donuts, etc.

And I think the whole UTS contingent is staying in some backpackers aimed at 12yrd old kids (it's got a "Galaxy Lounge") near the Queen Vic Markets. Does anyone else know where they are crashing?

Thanks for those who have let me know what everyone is getting charged. All seems par for the course, really. Although I do know of one team whose sports association is having non-consensual sex with them...

Late breaking news:: Due to lack of females, CSU may be out of Unigames... more on this story as I find out!

CSU are being charged:
$485+ for AUG's. This includes Entry Fee (145), Bond (50), Team Shirt (25), Accomodation (200), Manager Levy (30), Transport Pass (35). The plus is for a TEAM UNIFORM which is TBA and all CSU teams must wear!

UQ is looking sketchy at this point due to our lack of women. We have a male lineup that you'd be happy to travel to Nationals with, but we at this stage really only have about 3-4 women that are all very big maybes...

That's about a block from where Ballarat are staying. Melbourne International or something. We're not driving to Melbourne because parking in the CBD and Albert Park costs an absolute motza.

Getting to the fields via PT is easy - walk about 300m up to Swanston Street, and catch a tram that goes straight down St Kilda Road.
