Ok, here's a list to start from, based ONLY on last year's results.

   1. Macquarie University
   2. Monash University
   3. Australian National University
   4. University of Sydney
   5. University of Melbourne
   6. University of Western Australia
   7. Queensland University of Technology
   8. Flinders University
   9. University of Ballarat
  10. University of Adelaide
  11. Murdoch University
  12. La Trobe University (Bundoora)
  13. University of Technology, Sydney
  14. University of Newcastle
  15. University of Wollongong
  16. Edith Cowan University
  17. Deakin University
  18. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

Go nuts. I'll post my thoughts later.

Newcastle and Latrobe would be disgustingly underseeded, ANU and Mac probably slightly overseeded.

How you wanna tweak it i dont know though. I liked your suggestion about moving teams around where have shown they are better than other teams in their region this year (ie Newcastle should be higher than UTS). But how that effects teams which didnt play regional tournies (ie Monash, ANU)...i dont know...seems unfair to punish them, especially Monash who have another strong team. The only time i have seen ANU this year was at Midwinter Solstice, where we beat them quite comfortably, but i have no idea how much of thier team made the trek, and that tounrament shouldnt be used as an indicator for anything.

Whether you then take into account the differnces in squads from on semestr to another,....i dont envy you simmo.

Id have to say you couldt really justify moving around the top 6 seeds with resorting to the "i see the players on the roster and i know they arent as strong as last year" method (or the AFDA number theory), which isnt really an objective method. Whether we want an objective method or whether we want a seeding system which is accurate is the question we have to decide.

Id say we would be happy with our current seed...but it would suck being a top seed and having to play Newcastle (who having played 4 times this year with no mroe than 3 points in it each game i can say would be way underseeded in this... it wouldbe a tough pool game agisnt a "low seed).

So here's my stab at it...

1. Macquarie University
2. Monash University
3. University of Sydney
4. University of Melbourne
5. University of Newcastle
6. University of Western Australia
7. Flinders University
8. University of Adelaide
9. La Trobe University (Bundoora)
10. Queensland University of Technology
11. Murdoch University
12. Australian National University
13. University of Ballarat
14. University of Technology, Sydney
15. University of Wollongong
16. Edith Cowan University
17. Deakin University
18. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

Looks a bit random, but the pools work out beautifully...

POOL A
1 Macquarie University
6 University of Western Australia
7 Flinders University
12 Australian National University
13 University of Ballarat
18 Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology

POOL B
2 Monash University
5 University of Newcastle
8 University of Adelaide
11 Murdoch University
14 University of Technology, Sydney
17 Deakin University

POOL C
3 University of Sydney
4 University of Melbourne
9 Latrobe University
10 Queensland University of Technology
15 University of Wollongong
16 Edith Cowan University

2 NSW/ACT, 2 Vic, 1 WA in each pool, and the SA teams split up as well. Booyah.

Highest ranking team left from last year. Gold medalists at ECC. Spells "#1 seed" to me.

Pool A looks light on compared to B and C...but looks ok.

whats your seeding rationale. Seems partly based on results, partly vague speculation based on team lists (not having a go, just curious).

i think ANU is a little underseeded and that Pool C seems like itll be a tough road...
and im not saying this because im from a rival uni but i feel that UWA is a little overseeded..yes they are the best from WA but i just feel from what ive been hearing and what ive seen of UWA that i think 6 is a little high for the team they have this year....but either way..its a lot for them to live up to...and on the same hand..i think that we (Murdoch) is a little overseeded...we have a team that has quite a few new players in it but were going to play our best and have a heap of fun...

Well, yes.

Also tried to not stack all the teams from one state in one pool. My first stab at it had all six Victorian teams in one pool :\

Pool C - pool of death.

Stop piping tiger Pissy's right. Deal with it.

Maybe when taking in to consideration seedings the TD could factor in Ulti-talk trash talk / predictions etc. In which case it might look something like

1. University of Sydney
2. Latrobe University
.

.
18. RMIT

Seedings and pools seem pretty reasonable. With a 3 pool draw like this, how many teams from each pool go "up" and how much opportunity is there for teams going "down" to improve their position? Because if the draw is relatively forgiving of original seedings being slightly out of order then I think the even spread of teams from different states across all three pools highly recommends how simmo has it organised now

Sydney Uni #3? Based on? Bronze at ECC? It's a big jump from 7th, considering our actual team hasn't competed together since last AUGs...

I would prefer more accurate seedings even if it means one or two NSW would be in our pool, though I do like playing other unis for a change:

My top 5:

1. Sydney Uni
2. UTS
3. Monash
4. Macquarie
5. QUT

we're talking about the party, right?

Ay all.

From a West Coast perspective, UWA should be seeded lower than 6th. Probably 8th I'd say.

ECU should be seeded 18th. Period. They will struggle bigtime.

I think that the seedings should be done on the relative squad strength, not by previous performance or qualifiers because teams esp at uni level fluctuate greatly from year to year.

My stab in the dark:

1. Monash University
2. University of Sydney
3. University of Melbourne
4. University of Newcastle
5. Macquarie University
6. Flinders University
7. University of Adelaide
8. University of Western Australia
9. La Trobe University (Bundoora)
10. Queensland University of Technology
11. Australian National University
12. University of Ballarat
13. University of Technology, Sydney
14. University of Wollongong
15. Murdoch University
16. Deakin University
17. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
18. Edith Cowan Uni
