Yeah I noticed your name on the BUUF team P-Unit. How did you manage to swing that one? Are you studying this semester?

No, but I'm totally the opposite. I'm doing a single subject that's worth 24credit points!

By my post, I meant that I've enrolled in a unit only so I can play AUG. There's no intent to go to a class, do an assignment, or sit the exam.

That right there is commitment, ladies and gentlemen.

Oh a fine performance from UTS this year! I love it!

That shows lots of devotion to the running of the tourney simmo, well done!! Fingers crossed you and Tom don't accidentally learn something this semester...

Nicky Smith. She TD'd AUG in Adelaide, and 2007 Nationals.

Man ulti players are a strange breed. I cant imagine coming back to uni once im done solely to play a tournament. 6 years of it is plenty enough for me.

Just out of curiosity, how much does it cost to do a 1/3 unit?

Ok, another turn, this time using the second draw format I referred to.

1. Macquarie University
2. Monash University
3. University of Melbourne
4. University of Sydney
5. University of Newcastle
6. University of Western Australia
7. Flinders University
8. University of Adelaide
9. La Trobe University (Bundoora)
10. Australian National University
11. Queensland University of Technology
12. University of Technology, Sydney
13. Murdoch University
14. University of Ballarat
15. University of Wollongong
16. Deakin University
17. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology
18. Edith Cowan University

...which gives us pools of...

POOL A
1 Mac
8 Adelaide
9 Latrobe
17 RMIT

POOL B
2 Monash
7 Flinders
10 ANU
18 ECU

POOL C
3 Melb
6 UWA
11 QUT
14 B-Town
15 Gong

POOL D
4 Sydney
5 Newwie
12 UTS
13 Murdoch
16 Deakin

...and then, assuming all games go to seed, a second round of...

POOL E
Mac
Flinders
Melbourne
Newcastle

POOL F
Adelaide
Monash
UWA
Sydney

POOL G
Latrobe
ECU
QUT
Gong
Murdoch

POOL H
RMIT
ANU
B-Town
UTS
Deakin

...from there, G1 and H1 play E4 and F4, then quarters, semis and playoffs. G5 and H5 play for 17/18.

Gives us...
- 9 games for seeds 1 and 2
- 10-11 games for seeds 9-12
- 8 games for seeds 17 and 18

The other format I've got is 3 pools of 6, reclassified into 3 pools of 6 again, then quarters/semis/playoffs. This will give everyone 12 games (10 for 17th/18th). That would be easy to sort into 2-3 games Mon, 2-3 on Tues, 2 on Wed (with the arvo off), 3 on Thurs and 2 on Friday. Which personally I think is a lot better.

But with regards to seeding, the consensus seems to be the following groupings:
1-4: Macquarie, Melbourne, Monash, Sydney
5-9: Adelaide, Flinders, Latrobe, Newcastle, UWA
10-15: ANU, Ballarat, Murdoch, QUT, UTS, Wollongong
16-18: Deakin, Edith Cowan, RMIT
...with adjustments made to have regions spread across the pools.

I'm going to put it out there and say that if Macquarie are indeed missing their best few male players from AUG as I've heard, then they're overseeded at number 1 and Newcastle is going to spank them up. (Are we allowed to spice up seeding discussions with a bit of smac talk?)
