G'day everyone,

CSU Bathurst and Central West Ultimate Frisbee would like to extend an invitation to everyone reading to attend the upcoming ULTIMATE STAMPEDE III.

The Ultimate Stampede is being held in Bathurst, NSW on the 23rd and 24th of May.
The event will be held at Morse Park (for those wanting to check out the fields on google maps) and in a change of format from the previous 2 years, it will be a 2 day teams event. Of course there will be a party on the Saturday night (because what else is there to do in Bathurst!)

The Ultimate Stampede likes to cater for Uni teams getting geared up for EUG's and Mixed Teams pumping up for State Champs and Mixed Nats.

So head to http://www.afda.com/rego/showcompetition.php?competitionid=588 and sign up.

Hurry though, as we only have spaces at Morse Park for 16 teams!

This event will be brought to you by the 2007 & 2008 AFDA Party of The Year team!!

I imagine it was because there were 11 teams signed up before ANY promotion had been done.

Personally I'd prefer playing for two days with the people that shared the 10 hour drive with me.

That has a little to do with it Simmo.

As we are billing it as a warmup for Uni Teams (for EUG's) and a starting point for some mixed teams (for mixed nats) it gives teams more time to play alongside each other.
It will also give some more flexibility with the draw (pools on one day, cross overs and finals on the final day)

So how will the draw work if it's a two day tournament?? Less games per day or a smaller number of pools so that we play more teams??

Longer games? In 2007 the games were about 45-50min long.

With 16 teams...
Saturday: 3 pool games plus 2 crossovers.
Sunday: Pre-quarters, quarters-semis-finals.
60-70min games to 13.

Just checked through some old stuff and in both Stampede I & II, games were 60 minutes long.

The main idea behind the format change is to give teams more time to spend playing Ultimate together and the draw will be sorted to do this.
16 teams would look at pools of 4 -> 3 pool games, 2 cross overs and so forth.
20 teams would look at pools of 5 -> 4 pool games, 1/2 cross overs and so forth.

Another consideration will be the weather and approx hours of light at this time.
